Website changes are a big hit

Changes to Wirral’s dedicated tourist information website – visitwirral.com – have been hailed a great success following a huge increase in visitors to the site.
In the three months since the improvements were made in March there has been a 127 per cent increase in ‘unique’ visitors to the site compared to the same period last year.
The number of pages viewed has also increased by a massive 158 per cent.
Commenting on the improvements, Wirral Council’s cabinet member for culture, tourism and leisure, Councillor Bob Moon said:
“These are very impressive results; during April alone we had 8,477 visitors who viewed nearly 90,000 pages of information. And we hope to keep up the momentum by actively promoting the site to make sure that it gets even more hits, which will hopefully translate into extra visitors to the area.
He added, “As more and more people make decisions on where to visit and then plan their trip online, it is vital that our website gives people the information and services they need in the most user-friendly way possible”.
The new-look site is now updated daily and provides a wide range of information including an up-to-the-minute ‘what’s on’ diary, links to all visitor attractions and an accommodation search service.
