Local musicians line-up to help Haiti - Jazz for Haiti

A charity concert – Jazz 4 Haiti - has been arranged for Sunday 21st February at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton starting at 2.30pm featuring some of the area’s best-known and most popular musicians.

And it has already received the Royle seal of approval – compere for the event will be Ricky Tomlinson, TV’s Jim Royle, who has promised to bring along his banjo and strum some tunes.

It is nearly two weeks since that devastating earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale struck the Caribbean island of Haiti, killing thousands and affecting many many thousands more.

As Haiti continues to struggle, the British Red Cross is one of the agencies helping in the huge emergency response operation, providing water, medical aid and vital relief supplies. All proceeds raised by next month’s concert with go to the British Red Cross Haiti Disaster Fund.

The confirmed line up for the event already represents a who’s who of the local jazz scene - The Big Easy, Blue Magnolia Jass Orchestra, Merseysippi Jazz Band, Panama Jazz Band, Down Town Dixielanders, Peninsula Jazz Band, Tony Davis Jazz Band, The WirrOrleans and the Savoy Jazz Band.
