Like many other councils we have been looking at ways to increase the amount of household waste recycled in Wirral.
In 2017, we held a consultation to allow people to tell us their views on the two proposed options for green bin collections alongside a weekly food waste collection.
The government is running national consultations as part of the Resources and Waste Strategy. We will wait for the outcomes of these consultations before making any final decisions.
Public responses to the consultation
The consultation covered two options and the responses can be viewed below.
Option 1
Retaining the current size bin (240 litres) but reducing the frequency of collection from fortnightly to every three weeks and introducing a food waste collection.
Option 2
Retaining the fortnightly collection frequency but exchanging the current 240 litre wheelie bins for 140 litre wheelie bins and introducing a food waste collection.
