Anybody can get involved all you need is a love of Wirral and pride to keep it beautiful and show it off to others. Whether you are a group of friends, local business, community group or an interested individual, Wirral Council will support you to make a difference.
'Love Where You Live' litter picking kits
Wirral Council is not currently lending litter picking equipment.
However, if you’d like to do more in your area during your local exercise, we can supply kit for you to keep. We can give you a litter picker (adult or child), high viz vest (adult or child), hoop and bags. If you’d like to ask for some kit, please email wasteandenvironment@wirral.gov.uk, with the number of kits you would like (adult and/or child) and your address.
We will contact you with an estimated delivery date for your equipment.
What to do with collected litter
Collected litter can be put into your household bin, or any street litter bin. If you have left a bag of collected litter beside a litter bin, or if the collected litter has filled a litter bin, you can report it for emptying.

If you are planning a community litter pick you will need to carry out your own risk assessment and make all your volunteers aware of it.
To make this easier for you, we have prepared a template for litter picking, which you can download and complete for your own activity. You should tailor the risk assessment to make sure that any hazards specific to your own team’s activities have been identified and relevant controls put in place.
