Tips (household waste recycling centres) are provided by Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority and accept a range of household materials for recycling, from batteries, cans and cardboard, through to garden clippings, glass bottles and wood. They also accept bulky items such as furniture and white goods (for example, fridges and freezers).

Vans and trailers
An appointment system is in place at all tips if you are using a commercial-type vehicle such as van, or a trailer sized between 2 to 3 metres (external box dimensions).
Making an appointment is easy to do and is free of charge. Residents using a van of any size or a large trailer are allowed a maximum of 12 visits over the year to recycle and dispose of household waste (this includes green and garden waste).
You do not need to book an appointment if using a standard car unless you are towing a trailer sized between 2 to 3 metres.
Visit the MRWA website below to book an appointment online, or call 0151 255 1444.
