Staff engagement for Children's social workers

Regular staff engagement events take place for all staff across the directorate. These events provide opportunities to share service updates, the chance for staff to meet with senior leaders and to celebrate best practice and achievements. The events are well attended, and feedback is positive.

Wellbeing calendar

Within Children’s Services we offer an annual wellbeing calendar that covers spotlight topics throughout the year. Each month we offer a range of engagement activities that staff can get involved in and enjoy.

The Practitioner Forum

The Practitioner Forum exists for frontline social workers. Here, they can meet monthly to share ideas, views and updates. Alongside monthly meetings, there is also a Teams chat to share views around practice. The goal of the Forum is to improve frontline practice, making children safer by actively contributing to change. The Forum is managed by the Practice Improvement Team. In the spirit of co-production, the Forum also assists in testing out new developments and improvements.

Thinking Thursday

Thinking Thursday is an opportunity for social workers to meet to find out about service developments and hear from partner agencies. The activity helps us to understand how our partners contribute to supporting children and families in Wirral.

Reflective Spaces

Reflective Space sessions provide protected time for teams to come together. Here teams can reflect on their work, the challenges, dilemmas and the positive story's. The Practice Improvement Team facilitate the reflective sessions.

Team Manager conference

Team Manager conferences take place every 6 months. They are an opportunity for all team mangers to come together and receive service updates. Colleagues from Human Resources and Organisational Development also contribute to the event. The event is virtual and recorded.
