Parents wanted! Become a parent group leader with EPEC (Empowering Parents Empowering Communities)
Are you a parent with a passion for helping others? Do you want to make a difference in your community by sharing your knowledge of parenting while gaining valuable skills in leadership? Wirral Family Hubs are looking for passionate parent volunteers to become Parent Group Leaders for the ‘Being a Parent’ course. The course is a part of the internationally recognised, evidence-based EPEC (Empowering Parents Empowering Communities) initiative.
This is your chance to be at the heart of your community, helping fellow parents build stronger connections with their children and create happier, more resilient families across Wirral.
What is EPEC?
EPEC is a peer-led parenting programme where parents help parents. Designed for parents with children aged 2-11, this course is delivered by parents who use their lived experience to support others in creating a positive family environment. Backed by research and tested internationally, EPEC gives parents practical tools to improve family life, manage stress, and develop positive parenting skills.
The ’Being a Parent’ course is highly interactive, offering real life techniques that can change how parents think, feel and relate to their children. By joining us as a Parent Group Leader, you will empower others to:
- build family resilience and manage everyday parenting stress
- improve communication and emotional understanding, helping parent connect with their children
- encourage positive behaviour using social learning and proven behaviours management strategies
- create consistent family routines that provide stability and support for their children
- promote play and learning, encouraging children’s communication and development

Training details
- Location: Moreton
- January to April (term-time)
- Tuesdays, 9:30am to 4:30pm (10-week course)
After training - your role as a parent group leader
Once trained, you’ll guide parents through the ‘Being a Parent’ course, delivering up to two 9-week sessions each year during term-time, with a time commitment of no more than 4 hours per week.
You will receive ongoing support and supervision to ensure their practice is safe, high quality and effective.
