General elections

The next general election will take place on Thursday 4 July 2024. You vote to elect a Member of Parliament (MP) in your area to represent your views in parliament.

Following a review of parliamentary constituencies there are now 3 constituencies within the borough of Wirral. 

The three areas in Wirral are represented currently by:

The wards of Bromborough and Eastham now form part of Ellesmere Port and Bromborough Constituency. This is currently represented by Justin Madders.

How to vote in the general election

If you are already registered to vote, you will receive a poll card before election day. This will give details of your polling station.

The deadline to register to vote in these elections was midnight on Tuesday 18 June 2024.

Voting by post

If you cannot attend the polling station on election day, you can apply to vote by post.

The deadline for us to receive your completed application to vote by post was 5pm Wednesday 19 June 2024.

Appointing someone else to vote on your behalf (vote by proxy)

You can also appoint someone you trust to vote on your behalf. This is called a proxy vote.
