Wirral Award 2024 recipients
Gina Doyle
For leading a voluntary organisation Called Happy Hub CIC. The club has been improving the lives of residents on the Noctorum and surrounding areas for over 3 years.
Linda Coleman
For setting up a wheelchair dance class ‘Hot wheels’ which is a community hub with members attending for over 20 years – The club runs in Woodchurch and Hoylake Community Centers. Linda has run Hot wheels for 23 years.
Jessica Gallier-Booth
For setting up The Martin Gallier Project with a mission to prevent suicide, break down stigma, and to support families.
Lesley Cubbin
For the service that she has given to the Wallasey Village Community. Lesley is Chair of Wallasey Village People, a group that raises money for Christmas lights in Wallasey Village. Lesley is also the secretary of Friends of Harrison Park, a group that organizes events in the park. In addition, Lesley is an organizer and participant of the Village traders and Wallasey Village URC Tues Club.
Mandy Molby
For Helping to raise funds for various local charities, including the mayor’s charity. Mandy organises and manages annual fund-raising banquets and charity balls and Sportsman’s Luncheon event every year. Mandy has raised over £7.5 million for charities over the past 30 years.
Margaret Jean Price
For undertaking the role of Caretaker for Community and Leisure Centre at Village Hall, New Ferry and the Village Hall and Windsor Close. Formerly a teacher at the Grove St Primary School, Margaret has managed the hall since 1988.
Mr and Mrs Major and Sue Mace
Responsible for creating the ‘Black Pearl’ Pirates and the pirate ship. In addition they have created the fairy village at Vale Park and contribute towards fund raising events throughout the year as well as the Christmas lights at Vale Park.
Mr Paul Smith
For undertaking the role of Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Age UK Wirral. Paul is also the Chairman of Wirral History and Heritage Association and oversees the annual history fair and Wirral programme of Heritage Open Days.
Mrs Sue Porter
For her support offered to bereaved families in the Upton area. Sue also sponsors local grass roots kids’ football clubs such as Woodchurch Juniors and West Kirby FC under 7’s. Sue also runs a grotto at her home in Woodchurch- a spectacular local grotto with proceeds being donated to charity.
Daniel Davies
For his determination and vision in creating Rockpoint Leisure, transforming Victoria Rd New Brighton. Daniel has financed the scheme and established New Brighton’s Victoria Quarter with shopping, dining/drinking, live shows, art exhibitions, cultural events and it is now home to a creative sector hub.
Maria Kershaw
For setting up the ‘Voice of Egremont Residents and Tenants Association’ in 2012. Maria has devoted her life, before and after retirement to ‘Clean up King Street’ a project aimed at private landlords, tenants, home and business owners who live and trade on and around king street. Responsible for the asset transfer of derelict land on Seabank and Trafalgar Road and its transformation into a community space, tended by volunteers.

For the continued traditions of the RNLI that help to keep our seaways and beaches safe.
Bill Price
For establishing and contributing hours of service every week to Glenavon Junior Football Club, enabling people from all backgrounds to play the game they love.
Rose Mullarkey
For dedicated voluntary service to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.
Supporting thousands of individuals and families in need for more than 50 years.
Georgina Jacobs
For supporting bereaved parents and helping them to find the final resting places of their born asleep babies, and for helping to establish a new memorial to their loved ones.
Dave Barden
For raising thousands of pounds for charity by cycling all over the world, and for his voluntary work with the Secret Gardens of Oxton and as Secretary for the Oxton Society.
Chris Morris
For long standing voluntary work as Secretary of Wirral History and Heritage Association, her contribution to Birkenhead History Society, and as a volunteer with the Friends of Flaybrick.
Jack Blakemore
For more than 30 years of dedicated voluntary service with Wirral Credit Union; for helping to raise over £100,000 for local charities with Claremount Road Methodist Church; for being involved in local and national refereeing for more than 60 years; and for organising free transport to enable elderly people to visit a lunch club.
Alan Dollery
For his work as Chair of Prenton Tenants Association since its formation in 1998, helping to raise thousands of pounds for charities, and for running a local foodbank.
Alan has also led Prenton in Bloom, supported litter picks, and
arranged for a bench to be donated at the Prenton Memorial.
Paul Dufton
For providing a distinguished voluntary and campaigning service to the borough for more than 25 years, enabling people with a disability to lead a full and independent life.
John Hilton
For work as liaison officer between the Peruvian Embassy and Wirral Council for around 15 years, developing historical and cultural links, and adding great value to the understanding of the history and culture of our area.

Christine Allen
For voluntary work, including with Birkenhead Forum Housing Association, as a Justice of the Peace at Birkenhead Court, with the Life Expectancy Wirral project and at Make It Happen.
Alan Chape
For chairing Conservation Areas Wirral since the group was formed a decade ago, for helping Council officers draft the conservation aspects of the new local plan, and for organising the Secret Gardens of Oxton.

For providing support to the local community following the terrible events that took place in Wallasey Village on Christmas Eve.

For her work as a volunteer at the Council Kennels since 2011 which became Friends of Birkenhead Kennels and becoming Chair in 2013. Sam has worked over 40 hours per week voluntarily.
Mr Stephen Ross
For helping local disadvantaged people through his work and being fully engaged in his passion for wildlife and animals. He became Chairman of the Wirral Women’s Refuge until 2017 when he was made patron.

Mr Allan Murray
For his service to water polo over the course of his lifetime since the early 60’s providing international recognition for many. Mr Murray continued to attend every training session, match and committee meeting at age 80.
