This area centres on the Mayer Building Complex and Mayer Park - celebrating the unique legacy of their builder and sponsor, Joseph Mayer. He was one of a number of social philanthropists who recognised that happy, healthy workers have a positive effect on industrial productivity. The buildings are all exceptional in some way - both individually and as a study in hand-crafted neo-gothic architecture.
Moving away from the village centre, a network of paths leads to Fine Arts and Crafts housing features in the nearby roads and St Andrews Church is one of the most significant early buildings in Wirral. Beyond the village, Lower Bebington connects with other conservation areas - first with Port Sunlight and then onwards to Bromborough Pool Village.
