Located on the west side of Wirral, a mile inland from the shoreline of the Dee estuary, Thurstaston has a notably rural setting. Unlike neighbouring villages of West Kirby, Heswall and Irby, the area didn’t experience suburban housing development and its secluded character has been protected by ‘Green Belt’ policies. Originally a farming community, the settlement retains the image of traditional English rural village, with its church, hall, school house, and surrounding farmsteads.
