Youth Outreach teams provide early help across Wirral borough engaging with young people who are often vulnerable to exploitation and criminality. The team engage and build positive relationships with young people to ensure they get the right support to help build skills and promote resilience.
Those identified on the street often have challenging multiple issues that require good relationships with their youth worker to help them problem solve. Without the right support these challenges can and do have a lifelong impact on young people and those around them, both within the family and the community.
These challenges include poorer health and wellbeing, low educational attainment and employment prospects, poorer parenting skills and other adult expectations.
Often those most vulnerable will not engage with support services if they have no relationship with a youth worker or other positive adult role model. Developing relationships with young people is key to improving good outcomes.
